PERCEPTIONS AND EXPERIENCES OF THE RETURN TURKISH WORKERS REGARDING THEIR INTEGRATION INTO THE HOST SOCIETIES: A QUALITATIVE STUDY
 
Migration, immigrants and matters related to their integration with the host society are the common problem of societies around the world. In this study, the adaptation problems of the 146 return Turkish workers abroad are addressed. Most of them are first generation guest workers and have inadequate or limited education, language skills, social and cultural capital. Three basic questions are asked to the study group. In the first question the participants are asked whether they have been subjected to discrimination abroad and it has been determined that 26 % of the participants were either subjected to discrimination or witnessed Turkish workers who had been subjected to discrimination. The distribution of those also differ who declared that they had been subjected to discrimination according to various countries. Among the participants, 83% of those (5 persons) who went to Russia, 30.5% of those (29 persons) who went to Germany, 25% of those (1 person) who went to the Netherlands, 11.7% of those (2 persons) who went to S. Arabia, and 20% of those (1 person) who went to the US have declared that they experienced discrimination at different levels. However this discrimination could be solid one or could be a kind of perception stem from belonging different culture for one who went abroad first time in her/his life as well.
