Learning English is an occupation that has been given great importance for years in Turkey as well as in the rest of the world. The quality of English education in our country has always been a controversial issue. In fact, when we evaluate the implemented systems, we can not talk about a successful language education system that has been in force for many years. In Turkey, a country where English is learned and used as a foreign language, English skills, which have limited opportunities to be developed in their natural environment, could not be brought to the desired level due to frequently changing systems. However, we can say that some correct steps have been taken in terms of English education in recent years. The present study aims to reveal the importance of English, which is used as a common communication language almost all over the world, how and where to start and what needs to be done in terms of teaching and learning as a foreign language in Turkey. In this direction, in the introduction part of the study, the importance of English in the world and in Turkey, where to start learning English and how to learn English are discussed. Afterwards, some suggestions that will make a constructive contribution to English learning are presented.
